WASHINGTON – The Georgetown men’s tennis team (3-1) defeated the George Mason Patriots (1-1), 6-1, on Friday night at the International Country Club in Fairfax, Va.

The Hoyas only won one doubles match, but swept all six singles matches to grab the win over George Mason.

Freshmen Yannik Mahlangu (Henderson, Nev./Green Valley) and Jack Murphy (Coronado, Calif./La Jolla Country Day) defeated Jimmy Davis and Aaron Capitel of George Mason for the Hoyas’ only doubles victory, 6-1. Dating back to the fall, Mahlangu and Murphy are 4-1 in doubles play.

In singles play, sophomore Daniel Khanin (Baldwin, N.Y./Pendleton) beat George Mason’s Jimmy Lange in the No. 1 position, 6-3; 6-2, which established a trend of five two-set victories for Georgetown.
