Men's Tennis Opens the Season at Penn

Washington - The Georgetown University men's tennis team opened the 2018 season with a match against Penn on Sunday in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania. The Hoyas fell to the Quakers, 7-0, in their season opener.

In doubles action, senior Marco Lam (Hong Kong, China/Diocesan Boys' School) and sophomore Ian Witmer (North Palm Beach, Fla./The Benjamin School) defeated Penn's Max Cancilla and Robert Smithline, 6-5 (3).

In singles, junior Michael Chen (Holmdel, N.J./Holmdel) fought hard in his match against the Quakers' Dmity Shatalin, but fell short in both sets, 6-3, 6-2.

The Hoyas will be back in action on February 9 as the squad will play its first home match against Monmouth at Yates Field House.
