WASHINGTON - Georgetown University's men's tennis team (8-8; 2-0 BIG EAST) earned its sixth straight victory with a 4-3 win against conference rival Villanova. At Villanova the Hoyas swept the doubles competition and took three singles matches to clinch the victory. With the win GU stays undefeated in league play, 2-0, and evened its overall record, 8-8.
Charlie Caris (Des Moines, Iowa/Theodore Roosevelt) and Reese Milner (Los Angeles, Calif./Crossroads) carried GU to victory by winning their doubles match on court two, 8-3, and then each winning their respective singles matches. Caris mounted a comeback on court two, after falling 2-6 in the first set he won sets two and three at 6-1. Milner on court three recorded a straight set victory 6-3, 6-4.
Casey Distaso (The Woodlands, Texas/Edmond North) won the deciding singles match on court five, cruising to a 6-1, 6-1 win. Distaso also teamed with Daniel Khanin (Baldwin, N.Y.) to win at one doubles, 8-6.
Georgetown faces another BIG EAST competitor in St. John's on Friday, April 5, at noon. The match will be played indoors at Yates Field House on Georgetown's campus. Georgetown is undefeated at home this year, winning all six contests.
