Daniel Khanin Named BIG EAST Men's Tennis Player of the Week

WASHINGTON - Georgetown men's tennis sophomore Daniel Khanin (Baldwin, N.Y./Pendleton) was named the BIG EAST Player of the week early Saturday morning for his play from March 17-23. The news came via a BIG EAST press release.

The Hoyas only played one match from March 17-23 when they hosted the University of Pennsylvania which resulted in a 4-3 Georgetown loss.

This is Khanin's first BIG EAST honor and the third award for the squad this year.

The sophomore earned a No. 1 singles win against Nikola Kocovic of the University of Pennsylvania on Sat., March 22 in straight sets, 6-2, 6-3. Khanin is 4-2 in his last six No. 1 singles matches.

Khanin also earned a doubles victory while paired with senior co-captain Casey Distaso (The Woodlands, Texas/Edmond North) over Penn's Austin Kaplan and Thomas Spratt, 8-6.

Khanin owns a 6-7 singles record in duals play, all from the No. 1 position.

The men are back in action on Fri., April 4 when they host a BIG EAST matchup against Xavier. Georgetown also hosts Connecticut the following day, Sat., April 5.
