Caris Lands Spot on All-BIG EAST Men's Tennis Team

WASHINGTON - Georgetown University senior men's tennis player Charlie Caris (Des Moines, Iowa/Theodore Roosevelt) was named to the All-BIG EAST Men's Tennis Team as announced by the league office on Thursday. Caris was the only Hoya selected to the 13 player all-conference squad.

Caris, a team co-captain, had a very strong final season. He went undefeated in regular season league play for singles, 3-0, and closed the year with an overall singles mark of 19-14 and 13-9 in dual matches. Caris won eight of his final 10 singles matches including one in the BIG EAST Championship, winning a 6-4, 6-4 match on court two against St. John's. For his career Caris amassed 57 singles wins.

In doubles Caris was also a consistent force in the Hoya lineup. He compiled an 18-14 overall mark and was 2-1 in BIG EAST play. Caris won his final doubles match of his career in the BIG EAST Championship 8-5 on court one against St. Johns. He closed his four seasons with 59 total doubles wins.

The Georgetown men's tennis team finished the 2012-13 season with a 12-11 overall dual match record and went 3-0 against BIG EAST foes. The Hoyas earned the fifth seed in the 2013 BIG EAST Men's Tennis Championship, the highest seed Georgetown has earned under the watch of Head Coach Gordie Ernst.
