Washington, D.C. - Led by junior Andrew Bumbalough (Brentwood, Tenn./Brentwood Academy), the Georgetown University men's cross country team cruised to a dominating win at the NCAA Mid-Atlantic Regional Championship, hosted by Princeton University on Saturday. The Georgetown women, meanwhile, placed three individuals among the top-20 overall and finished in fourth place of 26 teams. The win for the men's team provides the Hoyas with an automatic bid to the NCAA Cross Country Championships, while the women's team should be in line for an at-large berth. The NCAA Cross Country Championships will be held on Monday, Nov. 24 in Terre Haute, Ind. Georgetown topped the 24-team men's field with 27 points and Penn State followed with 73 points to each earn automatic bids to the NCAA Championship. Villanova came in third with 84 points. Bumbalough, who led the Hoyas to the BIG EAST Championship two weeks ago in New York, won his second-straight individual title, covering the five-mile course in 31:36. The Hoyas placed four individuals among the top-10 overall to finish with 27 points, a total that could be a record for a team at the regional.
