Graduate student Fleet Hower earned Academic All-America honors today.

Washington, D.C. - Georgetown University track & field/cross country standout Fleet Hower (Marion, Va./Marion) was selected to the 2007 ESPN The Magazine Academic All-America Men's Cross Country/Track & Field Third Team, voted upon by the College Sports Information Directors of America (CoSIDA).
Hower, who was named to the All-District 2 Academic First Team in early June, completed his undergraduate degree in English in May 2006 and is currently pursuing a master's of arts in liberal studies, having compiled a 3.84 grade point average in his first year in the program.
On the track, he was along the top distance runners in the country, qualifying for the NCAA Outdoor Championships in the 5000m and placing second at the BIG EAST Outdoor Championship n both the 5000m and 10,000m. During the indoor season, he was runner up in the 3000m and distance medley relay at the IC4A Championship and was fifth in the 3000m at the BIG EAST.
Hower is the first Georgetown student-athlete to earn CoSIDA Academic All-America honors since 2005 and only the fifth men's track & field/cross country recipient since 1987.
