Hoyas Run to Impressive Finishes at USA Track and Field Championships

WASHINGTON, DC--The Georgetown University track and field team had several standout finishes at the 2005 USA Track and Field Championships. Chris Lukezic, Daniel Nunn, Rod Koborsi, Ashley Hubbard, Brandon Bonsey, Maggie Infeld, Michael Banks, and Shane Young all represented the Hoyas with impressive results.

Lukezic, a rising senior for Georgetown, finished second in the 1500-meters with a time of 3:42.06. Lukezic finished behind Alan Webb of Nike who timed 3:41.97. The run qualifies Lukezic for the 2005 IAAF World Championships in Athletics held August 6-14, 2005 in Helsinki, Finland.

In the 5000-meter run junior, Nunn ran to second place where he posted a mark of 14:17.67. He was two seconds behind champion Paul Hefferon of Kansas who finished in 14:15.18. Nunn's mark was a personal record, and he qualified for the Pan American Junior Athletics Championships on July 28-31, 2005 held at the University of Windsor in Windsor, Ontario, Canada.

Koborsi set a personal record in the 5000-meter run open, crossing the finish line in 13:49.10 to claim 12th in the event. Tim Broe and Ian Dobson of Nike ran one-two with times of 13:12.76 and 13:15.33, respectively.

Hubbard competed in the 400-meter dash junior, timing 56.59 and placing 18th in the preliminaries. Brandon Bonsey and Michael Banks both competed in the 1500-meter run junior, where Banks placed fifth in Heat 1 (3:57.98) and Bonsey placed seventh in Heat 2 (4:07.12). Banks went on to place fourth in the finals; setting a personal record of 3:52.02. Infeld ran 2:08.99 in the 800-meter run junior race to place sixth overall. Shane Young wrapped up the performances for the Hoyas, placing eighth in the 3000-meter steeplechase junior race in 9:41.82.
