Monica Hargrove enters her second season as an assistant coach for the Georgetown men's and women's track & fi eld teams. She coordinates the women's recruiting as well as the strength and speed development for all women's events.

Hargrove has proven to be one of the elite runners in the country, posting impressive results on the world and national scene over the past year. She was a silver medalist at the 2006 Indoor World Championships as a member of the United States 4x400m relay team, qualifying for the team with a fourth place fi nish in the 400m at the U.S. Indoor Championships. At the Penn Relays, Hargrove ran the 400m leg of the world-record setting United States sprint medley relay squad. During the summer, she was a constant on the IAAF top 50 world ranking list in the 400m.

Hargrove, a standout on the Hoya women's track & field team from 2001-04, was a threetime All-American. She earned All-America honors as a member of the Hoyas' distance medley relay team in 2002, 2003 and 2004. In addition, Hargrove was the 2003 BIG EAST Indoor 500m champion and a component of the winning 2002 BIG EAST Outdoor 4x400m relay squad, clocking a 51.9 relay split.

Hargrove ran the second leg on the GU record-setting distance medley relay team (11:07.27) in 2004 and was part of the Hoyas' third-place DMR squad at the 2003 NCAA Indoor Championships. She earned the James M. Gallagher Memorial Award for Georgetown's Outstanding Track & Field Competitor in 2003.

An excellent student, Hargrove graduated from Georgetown University in 2004 with a bachelor of arts in psychology. As a senior, she was named to the Dean's List.

During the 2004-05 season, Hargrove was a volunteer coach for the Hoyas and worked full-time as a Behavioral Technician at the Devereaux Center for Emotionally Disturbed Children in the District of Columbia.

Originally from New Haven, Conn., Hargrove now resides in Washington, D.C. She is currently studying public policy at the Georgetown Graduate School of Arts & Sciences.
