Heather Stephens was named an assistant coach of the track & field and cross country program at Georgetown in August 2012. Stephens will be assisting with the women's middle distance and distance runners during the cross country season as well as the indoor and outdoor track seasons.
Stephens arrives on the Hilltop after completing her undergraduate career at Syracuse University. During her time with the Orange, she helped lead the women's cross country team to its first-ever berth at the NCAA Cross Country Championships and in 2010, she contributed to SU's 10th-place finish at the championships.
During the 2010, 2011 and 2012 indoor and outdoor track seasons, Stephens earned All-BIG EAST honors.
During the 2009-10 year, Stephens was named to the NCAA Division I Women's All-Academic team by the U.S. Track & Field and Cross Country Coaches Association (USTFCCCA). She was a BIG EAST Academic All-Star in 2009, 2010 and 2011 and was named to the Dean's List for three years (2010, 2011, 2012). She was a three-time recipient of the Scholar-Athlete Award at Syracuse from 2010-12. In her final year at Syracuse, she was nominated for the Soladay Award, the most prestigious award given to a student-athlete by the SU department of athletics.
Stephens graduated with a bachelor of arts in communications and rhetorical studies from Syracuse's College of Visual and Performing Arts in 2012.
