Stephens arrives on the Hilltop after completing her undergraduate career at Syracuse University. During her time with the Orange, she helped lead the women's cross country team to its first-ever berth at the NCAA Cross Country Championships and in 2010, she contributed to SU's 10th-place finish at the championships.
During the 2010, 2011 and 2012 indoor and outdoor track seasons, Stephens earned All-BIG EAST honors.
During the 2009-10 year, Stephens was named to the NCAA Division I Women's All-Academic team by the U.S. Track & Field and Cross Country Coaches Association (USTFCCCA). She was a BIG EAST Academic All-Star in 2009, 2010 and 2011 and was named to the Dean's List for three years (2010, 2011, 2012). She was a three-time recipient of the Scholar-Athlete Award at Syracuse from 2010-12. In her final year at Syracuse, she was nominated for the Soladay Award, the most prestigious award given to a student-athlete by the SU department of athletics.
Stephens graduated with a bachelor of arts in communications and rhetorical studies from Syracuse's College of Visual and Performing Arts in 2012.
