WASHINGTON - The Georgetown University track & field team traveled to New York for the Gotham Cup, hosted at the Ocean Breeze Track & Field Center on Friday. Junior Jody-Ann Knight (Bentonville, Ark./Bentonville) ran a personal record (PR) to win the 200-meter dash to highlight the meet.
"It was great to see Jody-Ann run a new indoor PR of 24.75 in her first 200-meter dash of the season," Associate Head Coach for Track & Field (Sprints / Jumps) Alton McKenzie said. "She's put in the work from the fall and is deserving of this accomplishment so early in the indoor season. As a group we will look to continue improving weekly as we get race sharp and target better performances as the season progresses.
Knight clocked 24.75, her first sub-25 second time, to win the 200-meter dash at the Gotham Cup. It was her first 200-meter dash of the season, cutting 34-hundredths of a second off her outdoor best in the event (43-hundredths of a second off her previous indoor best).
Quincey Wilson (Lithonia, Ga./Arabia Mountain) managed a new season best in the 400-meter dash by one-hundredth of a second, timing in at 49.57. He comfortably won the fourth heat and placed 10th overall in the event.
The Hoyas return to competition on Friday and Saturday, January 27-28, as they travel back to State College, Pa., for the Penn State National Open.
