Hoyas Set Meet Record at Penn State National Invitational

WASHINGTON - Georgetown track & field finished the weekend out on the final day of the Penn State National Invitational in State College, Pa. The Hoyas posted good times en route to the postseason just three weeks away when the Hoyas travel to the historic New York Armory for the BIG EAST Conference Championships on February 20 and 21.

Billy Ledder (Washington, D.C./Gonzaga) took the top spot today in the men's 800-meter invitational with a commanding time of 1:48.92. Also taking the top spot was Amos Bartelsmeyer (St. Louis, Mo./Saint Louis Country Day School) in the men's 1,000-meter invitational timing in at 2:22.75, a new meet record. Bartelsmeyer led in Ryan Manahan (Marcellus, N.Y./Marcellus) in second place (2:23.08) followed by Cole Williams (San Francisco, Calif./Occidental Challenge) in fourth (2:24.71).

All-American Chelsea Cox (Manahawkin, N.J/Southern Regional) followed that up with a second-place performance in the women's 1,000-meter invitational with a time of 2:51.20.

All-American Katrina Coogan (Exeter, N.H./Phillips Exeter Academy) was second to just BIG EAST foe Villanova's Emily Lipari as she finished with a time of 9:10.27 in the invitational heat of the women's 3,000-meter run.

Andrea Keklak (Sudbury, Mass./Lincoln-Sudbury/Princeton) finished second in the women's mile invitational with a time of 4:44.37 in the 11-person field.

In the invitational heat of the women's 500-meter dash, Deseree King (Oxon Hill, Md./Oxon Hill) timed in at 1:13.52 for second place in the four-person race.

 

 

The women's mile saw a duo of Hoyas lead the way with Hannah Neczypor (Royalton, Ohio/North Royalton) and Annamarie Maag (Lake Oswego, Ore./Jesuit Prep) taking the two top spots with times of 4:51.76 and 4:52.67, respectively. Kirsten Kasper (North Andover, Mass./North Andover) taking fourth with a time of 4:54.84.

The men's 4x400-meter relay invitational saw the foursome of Devante Washington (Lafayette, La./Lafayette), Ledder, Mike Andre (Ocean, N.J./Ocean Township) and Zach Zingsheim (Lansing, Mich./Lansing Catholic) take third place, timing in at 3:15.19.

In the invitational heat of the women's 4x400-meter relay, Mirabel Nkenke (Orange, N.J./Immaculate Conception) teamed up with Keklak, Kimbers and Cox and finished fourth with a time of 3:47.38.

Joanna Stevens (Blacksburg, Va./Blacksburg) took fourth in the women's 3,000-meter run with a time of 9:41.24

In the men's 800-meter run, Zingsheim managed a fourth-place finish in the race with a time of 1:54.95.

Hansel Akers (Hempfield, Pa./Hempfield) put up a top-five finish with his time of 1:05.79, to take fifth in the men's 500-meter dash.

The Hoyas continue the season with the Valentine Invitational on Saturday, February 8 in Boston, Mass.
