WASHINGTON - The Georgetown University track & field team continued the opening weekend of the outdoor season with the final day of the Fred Hardy Invitational hosted by the University of Richmond. Competing at Robin's Stadium on Richmond's campus against a number of schools up and down the east coast, the Hoyas managed to win two individual events and one relay event.

All-American Amanda Kimbers (Baltimore, Md./McDonogh) won the women's 100-meter dash in her first event of the season. She ran 12.00, just edging out Rutgers' Gabrielle Farquharson in second (12.01).

In the women's 3,000-meter run, Bobbie Burgess (West Lafayette, Ind./West Lafayette) was the first of a duo of Hoyas in the top three as Burgess clocked 10:03.89, followed by Jenna Davidner (South Easton, Mass./Oliver Ames) in third (10:15.98).

The women's 4x400-meter relay squad featured All-American Deseree King (Oxon Hill, Md./Oxon Hill) running the leadoff leg, followed by Kimbers, All-American Chelsea Cox (Manahawkin, N.J./Southern Regional) and Becca DeLoche (Charlotte, N.C./Myers Park) running the anchor. The foursome took first with a time of 3:50.77.

In the men's 4x400-meter relay, the Hoyas put together a foursome with Hansel Akers (Landisville, Pa./Hempfield) on the leadoff while Mike Andre (Ocean, N.J./Ocean Township) and Nathaniel Gordon (Spartanburg, S.C./Spartanburg) handled the middle legs and Devante Washington (Lafayette, La./Lafayette) ran the anchor. The quartet finished third overall with a time of 3:18.55.

Richard D'Ambrosio (Collegeville, Pa./Malvern Prep) jumped a mark of 6.76m, good enough for third place in the men's long jump.

With five Hoyas entered in the women's 400-meter dash, it was Cox who was the top finisher with a fifth-place showing, timing in at 56.91.

The Hoyas continue the outdoor season on April 4 and 5 with three different meets on the schedule with the Cardinal Invitational (Palo Alto, Calif.), the Florida Relays (Gainesville, Fla.) and the Colonial Relays (Williamsburg, Va.)
