WASHINGTON - The Georgetown University track & field team stayed close to home this weekend competing at the George Mason Spring Invitational, held in Fairfax, Va. The Hoyas put up a number of strong times, looking poised to peak during the postseason.

The day was highlighted by the middle distance programs on both the men's and women's side. Nathaniel Gordon (Spartacus, S.C./Spartacus), continuing the success he had from the indoor season and opening the outdoor season one week ago, won the men's 800-meter run, clocking 1:50.99.

All-American Cole Williams (San Francisco, Calif./Occidental College) won the men's 1,500-meter run with a time of 3:44.13, while All-American Ryan Manahan (Marcellus, N.Y./Marcellus) - competing unattached - finished third with a time of 3:44.72.

The women's 800-meter run saw a trio of Hoyas among the top six with Heather Martin (Manlius, N.Y./Fayetteville-Manlius) leading the way in second place (2:07.35), followed by All-American Katrina Coogan (Exeter, N.H./Phillips Exeter Academy) in third (2:07.53) and Jocelyn Hubbard (Marshfield, Mass./Marshfield/Northeastern) in sixth (2:10.53).

A contingent of Hoyas competed in the women's 1,500-meter run, all in the first heat, with All-American Becca DeLoache (Charlotte, N.C./Myers Park) leading the way, clocking 4:23.75 (4th place), followed by All-American Hannah Neczypor (North Royalton, Ohio/North Royalton) in fifth (4:24.55), All-Americans Piper Donaghu (Portland, Ore./Grant) in sixth (4:24.6), Madeline Chambers (Rocky River, Ohio/Magnificat) in seventh (4:25.22) and Haley Pierce (Wilmington, Del./Tatnall School) in ninth (4:26.70). Competing unattached, Annamarie Maag (Lake Oswego, Ore./Jesuit Prep) took eighth place with a time of 4:25.32.

Next on the schedule for the Hoyas is the Mt. SAC Relays in Walnut, Calif., starting on Friday, April 16 through the weekend, with the remainder of the squad splitting sites between Princeton, N.J. (Larry Ellis Invitational) and Charlottesville, Va. (Virginia Challenge) on Saturday and Sunday, April 17-18.
