All-American Ahmed Bile

May 5, 2014

WASHINGTON - The Georgetown University track & field team competed through the waning hours of Sunday night as they traveled to Stanford, Calif., for the Payton Jordan Cardinal Invitational, hosted by Stanford. The Hoyas consistently put up the best times of the season from the middle distance through the distance events at the highly-touted meet that boasted stacked fields of competitors ranging from collegiate to professional runners. The meet went through the late hours of Sunday evening, ending just shy of midnight on the west coast.

For the men, All-American Ahmed Bile (Annandale, Va./Annandale) led the way with a seventh-place showing in the men's 1,500-meter run (section 2) with a time of 3:43.43. The time is a PR for the sophomore who now has ownership of the 19th-fastest time in GU history.

The third section of the men's 800-meter run saw a trio of Hoyas cross the finish line with season-best times. All-American Ryan Manahan (Marcellus, N.Y./Marcellus) finished second, clocking a 1:49.37, followed by All-American Amos Bartelsmeyer (St. Louis, Mo./Saint Louis Country Day School) in fifth place (1:50.61) and Cole Williams (San Diego, Calif./Occidental College) in sixth (1:50.68).

All-American Andrew Springer (Westerly, R.I./Westerly) finished 15th in the second section of the men's 5,000-meter final with a time of 14:54.43, a season best for the graduate student. Also running a season-best time was Collin Leibold (Falls Church, Va./Gonzaga) in the third section of the 5,000m with a time of 14:10.96, good enough for 15th place.

All-American Andrea Keklak (Sudbury, Mass./Lincoln-Sudbury/Princeton) continues to crush the season as she ran a personal record (PR) in the second section of the women's 800-meter run, timing in at 2:04.36, the eighth-fastest time in GU history. Also running a GU PR in the 800-meter run was Becca DeLoache (Charlotte, N.C./Myers Park), All-American Sabrina Southerland (New York, N.Y./Benjamin N. Cardozo) and Shanique Dasilva (Brooklyn, N.Y./Bishop Ford) with respective times of 2:06.32, 2:07.28 and 2:07.95. DeLoache's time ranks among the top 25 in Georgetown's rich history.

Running unattached this season, All-American Katrina Coogan (Exeter, N.H./Phillips Exeter Academy ran the second-fastest women's 5,000-meter time in school history as she clocked in at 15:34.34. It's a PR for the junior.

In the women's 1,500-meter run, All-American Rachel Schneider (Dover, N.H./St. Thomas Aquinas) finished ninth in the second section final, timing in at a season-best 4:17.04.

The Hoyas return to action this weekend, May 10-11, with the BIG EAST Outdoor Championships held at the Jumbo Elliott Track at Villanova Stadium in Villanova, Pa.
