WASHINGTON - Another day at famed Hayward Field saw two Hoya alums take the track in the semifinals of the 800-meter run and the 400-meter dash on the second day of the 2012 U.S. Olympic Team Trials. Former GU All-American Maggie Infeld competed in the semifinals of the women's 800-meter run while former Hoya All-American and one-time assistant Monica Hargrove ran the 400-meter dash. The 10-day event is held on the campus of the University of Oregon in Eugene.
Infeld, who completed her eligibility on the Hilltop in 2009, is the older sister of current Hoya All-American and NCAA Champion Emily Infeld (University Heights, Ohio/Beaumont). Maggie competed in the first of two heats in the 800-meter semifinals, the faster of the two heats. Maggie, now competing with New York Athletic Club (NYAC), finished sixth in her heat, narrowly missing the finals of the event with a time of 2:03.30. The final time to reach the finals was 2:02.82 by New Balance's Brenda Martinez.
Hargrove, competing in the second of two heats with the top four from each heat qualifying for Sunday's final, is now running with Under Armour. Hargrove finished seventh with a time of 53.71.
Declarations for each event are open for up to 48 hours prior to the start time and will be considered and released on a rolling basis throughout the trials.
