Georgetown Track & Field Hosts Hoya Spiked Shoe Invitational

WASHINGTON - For the third-straight year, the Georgetown University track & field program will host the Hoya Spiked Shoe Invitational this Friday, January 18 at the Hanley Center for Athletic Excellence on the campus of Georgetown Preparatory School in Bethesda, Md. The Hoyas welcome the La Salle Explorers, Delaware State Hornets, and Temple Owls for the third annual event. The meet is scheduled for 11 a.m. with the first running event occurring at 11:30 a.m., tentatively.
This will be the second time in the new year that both the men's and women's team have competed. Both will use this opportunity to get as much race experience in as well as keep their performances tempered with their practice regimens leading into the 2013 postseason that starts February 16-17 when the Hoyas travel to Geneva, Ohio for the BIG EAST Championships.
The first events are slated for 11 a.m. with the long jump and shot put. The triple jump and high jump will begin after the long jump. The first track event will begin at 11:30 a.m. with the 60-meter hurdles and the meet will go until the final event of the night, the women's 4x400m relay, scheduled for 2:30 p.m. All events will be men followed by women.
