WASHINGTON - All-American Chelsea Cox (Manahawkin, N.J./Southern Regional) has been named the BIG EAST track athlete of the week following competition at the Armory Collegiate Invitational in New York, N.Y. this past weekend.

It was a successful two days for the senior, as she placed in both of her events throughout the meet. On Friday she and her teammates took third in the distance medley relay with an overall time of 11:05.66, qualifying the relay team for BIG EAST championships. Cox ran the third leg of the relay, completing the 800 meters in a time of 2:07.9. She has helped lead the DMR team to the fourth-fastest time in the country and second-fastest in the BIG EAST.

Saturday saw Cox return to the track for a first place finish in 800-meter run championship. Her finishing time of 2:06.51 is good for an impressive ninth-fastest in the country and also leads the BIG EAST. Cox's performance in the 800-meter event again qualified for BIG EAST championships along with meeting ECAC standards.

Cox and the rest of the Hoyas return to competition Saturday, Feb. 9, splitting sites between the BU Valentine Invitational in Boston, Hoosier Hills in Bloomington, Ind. and the Washington Husky Classic in Seattle.
