Georgetown Cross Country Earns All-Academic Accolades

WASHINGTON - The Georgetown University cross country program picked up nine accolades from the U.S. Track & Field and Cross Country Coaches Association (USTFCCCA) today as they announced the Division I All-Academic individuals as well as the teams to earn All-Academic status. Both the men's and women's team earned the distinction while four women and three men earned the individual nod.

On the women's side, Georgetown was one of just eight institutions to put four student-athletes on the list with fellow BIG EAST institution Butler as one of the eight.

Samantha Nadel (Glen Head, N.Y./North Shore), Katrina Coogan (Exeter, N.H./Phillips Exeter Academy), Rachel Schneider (Dover, N.H./St. Thomas Aquinas) and Kelsey Smith () were the four to be named All-Academic for the women. The distinction went to all student-athletes who finished in the top 15 or 10 percent at an NCAA regional meet while also carrying a grade point average (GPA) of 3.25 or higher.

NCAA individual qualifier Andrew Springer (Westerly, R.I./Westerly) was one of three men to be named All-Academic while Brian King (Sonoma, Calif./Cardinal Newman) and Collin Leibold (Falls Church, Va./Gonzaga) also made an appearance on the list.

Both the men's and women's teams were named All-Academic teams as they both achieved a team GPA of 3.0 or higher on a 4.0 scale.
