WASHINGTON - The Georgetown University men's cross country team was named a NCAA Division I All-Academic team for the 2011 cross country season. Georgetown finished 17th at the NCAA Championships in November.
The honor announced by the U.S. Track & Field and Cross Country Coaches Association (USTFCCCA) on Wedneday, recognizes teams who achieve All-Academic status and post top finishes at NCAA Championships. Mark Dennin (Gilbertsville, Pa./Boyerstown), Alex Lundy (Littleton, Colo./Heritage/Maryland), Andrew Springer (Westerly, R.I./Westerly) and T.C. Lumbar (Edina, Minn./Edina) were named All-Academic individuals last Friday. .
To qualify for the award, a team must have a team cumulative GPA of at least 3.00, and have at least five runners participating in its NCAA regional championship. The Hoyas have a cumulative team GPA of 3.34 through the end of 2011.
