WASHINGTON - The Georgetown University track & field team will compete in the two-day 2018 NCAA Indoor Track & Field Championships, held at the Gilliam Indoor Track Stadium in College Station, Texas, on March 9-10. Georgetown will have a competitor in the men’s mile as well as a squad in the men’s distance relay.
ESPN3 will stream the meet live on both days.
All-American Amos Bartelsmeyer (St. Louis, Mo./St. Louis Country Day) will compete at his fourth NCAA indoor meet having earned All-America honors on the DMR in 2014, 2015 and 2016 as well as in the mile in 2016. The graduate student earned a berth in the men’s mile and will compete in the second of a two-heat semifinal. Bartlesmeyer ran the second-fastest time in Georgetown history when he ran 3:57.53 in Boston earlier this season. Two weeks ago, Bartelsmeyer closed with 26.995 over his final 200 meters to claim the men’s mile title at the BIG EAST Championships. For his efforts during the indoor season, he twice earned BIG EAST Men’s Track Athlete of the Week and also earned All-BIG EAST honors following the indoor championships.
Bartelsmeyer also anchored the second-fastest DMR in Georgetown history that clocked a time of 9:28.21. Bartelsmeyer anchored the foursome that included leadoff Spencer Brown (Wilton, Conn./Wilton), an All-American, as well as Kenny Rowe (Cockeysville, Md./Loyola Blakefield) and Rey Rivera (Old Bridge, N.J./Old Bridge). The time earned the Hoyas a spot in the DMR finals at the NCAA Championships, where the GU men turned in a third-place performance in 2017.
