WASHINGTON - Former track & field / cross country All-American and Hoya NCAA Champion John Gregorek (C'82) is part of the Penn Relays Wall of Fame Class of 2015, as announced by the Penn Relays last week. Gregorek is the fifth Hoya athlete to be named to the Wall of Fame following Michael Stahr (2014), Aubrey McKithen (2012), John Trautmann (2002) and Arthur Duffey (1999).

Gregorek is an individual member of the Penn Relays Wall of Fame Class of 2015. A three-time Penn Relays Champion, Gregorek earned two titles while competing on the Hilltop - first the 1981 4x800-Meter Relay Championship of America (COA) title and again in 1982 when he anchored the Distance Medley Relay (COA) squad, snapping a 16-year streak of Villanova winning the distance medley.

His split of 3:55.1 over the 1,600-meter anchor leg was the second-fastest split in history when he ran it and still stands among the top 10 splits of all time at the relays, tied for eighth. He previously anchored St. Anthony's High School to the DMR title as a high school senior.

In addition to two Penn Relays titles with the Blue & Gray, Gregorek is an NCAA relays champion, running anchor on the men's indoor distance medley relay, a squad that ran 9:45.97 to the event title at the 1982 NCAA Indoor Track & Field Championships, held at the Pontiac Silverdome in Pontiac, Mich.

An eight-time All-American, he earned his accolades in seven individual events (2 cross country, 2 outdoor 1,500m, indoor mile, indoor two mile, outdoor 3,000m steeplechase) and one relay event (indoor DMR) over his illustrious career. He won six BIG EAST titles (2 cross country, 2 indoor, 2 outdoor) during his time on the Hilltop, a mark that ties for seventh-most among GU student-athletes.

Gregorek's name is all over the Georgetown record books as he owns six individual school records, one relay carry record and is a part of two school record relay squads.

The Wall of Famer is also part of the prestigious Sub-Four Club on the Hilltop for all those who have run a sub-four-minute mile. There are only 10 student-athletes in the history of Georgetown track & field to complete the feat with Greogrek owning the best time in both the indoor and outdoor races.

The Hoyas will compete at the 2015 Penn Relays Carnival on April 23-25, held at historic Franklin Field in Philadelphia. Leading up to that weekend, the Hoyas will travel to Walnut, Calif., for the Mt. SAC Relays on April 16-18 as well as the Larry Ellis Invitational (Princeton, N.J.) and the Virginia Challenge (Charlottesville, Va.) on April 17-18.
