Billy Ledder Named BIG EAST Track Athlete of the Week

All-American Billy Ledder

April 17, 2014

WASHINGTON - Georgetown track & field All-American Billy Ledder (Washington, D.C./Gonzaga) was named the BIG EAST Male Track Athlete of the Week, as announced by the conference office today. Georgetown competed close to home at the George Mason Invitational in Fairfax, Va., last Saturday and Ledder's performance was one of the best in the nation.

Ledder finished fourth in the men's 800-meter run with a time of 1:48.01, the 11th-best time in the country right now according to the Track & Field Results and Reporting System (TFRRS) and the 10th-best time on the East region list. Ledder's time takes over the top time in the BIG EAST Conference, besting the previous time (1:50.02) set by teammate Ahmed Bile (Annandale, Va./Annandale) set one week earlier at the 2014 Colonial Relays in Williamsburg, Va.

Ledder managed a faster time than Villanova's Samuel Ellison who ran 1:49.26 at the Miami Hurricane Alumni Invitational, also on Saturday.

The Hoyas continue the season on April 18-19 splitting sites between the Mt. SAC Relays in Walnut, Calif., and the Larry Ellis Invitational in Princeton, N.J.
