EUGENE, Ore. - The Georgetown University track & field team is in Eugene, Ore., in advance of the 2016 NCAA Track & Field Championships, a four-day meet held at historic Hayward Field on the campus of the University of Oregon. Nine athletes will compete in six different events, matching the total from the 2015 outdoor season. The championships in its entirety will be broadcast live on the ESPN family of networks.

The women will send a total of five athletes to Eugene, highlighted by a trio in the 800-meter semifinals. Of the 12 qualifiers in the 800-meter semis from the east preliminary, the Hoyas represent 25 percent with the threesome all running 2:03 to advance to Eugene. All-Americans Emma Keenan (Gwynedd Valley, Pa./Gwynedd-Mercy Academy) and Sabrina Southerland (New York, N.Y./Benjamin N. Cardozo) and Sarah Schmidt (Viersen Germany) will all compete in the semifinals, scheduled for Thursday, June 9 (9:14 p.m. ET).
All-American Andrea Keklak (Sudbury, Mass./Lincoln-Sudbury/Princeton) will compete in the 1,500-meter semifinals, scheduled for Thursday, June 9 (7:46 p.m. ET). This will be her first foray in the event at the national level, having previously competed in the 800-meter semifinals in 2014.
All-American Katrina Coogan (Exeter, N.H./Phillips Exeter Academy) will compete in the women’s 5,000-meter finals, scheduled for Saturday, June 11 (8:25 p.m. ET). A seasoned 3,000-meter competitor at the indoor championships, Coogan is poised for success in the event as she entered the championship portion of the season with the eighth-fastest time in the country.
The Hoya men will send four athletes to compete in three different events. Three of the four will repeat in their same events from the 2015 season, including All-American Jonathan Green (Berlin, Mass./Saint John’s High School), who will make his second appearance in the 10,000-meter finals, scheduled for Wednesday, June 8 (10:08 p.m. ET). Green won the event at the 2016 BIG EAST Championships, the first conference title of his career. This marks the fifth-straight year the Hoyas have qualified an athlete to the 10,000-meter finals.
All-American Joe White (Clifton, N.J./DePaul Catholic) competes in the 800-meter semifinals, scheduled for Wednesday, June 8 (9:14 p.m. ET), repeating his appearance from 2015. White won the BIG EAST title in the same event, successfully defending his crown from 2015. It was the seventh overall conference title (four indoor, three outdoor) of his two-year career on the Hilltop.
This marks the fourth-straight year the Hoyas have sent at least two athletes to the 3,000-meter steeplechase semifinals as All-American Darren Fahy (Carlsbad, Calif./La Costa Canyon) and Scott Carpenter (Lenox, Mass./Lenox Memorial) both advanced to Eugene. Fahy, the 2016 BIG EAST steeple champion, makes a repeat appearance in the steeple semis, scheduled for Wednesday, June 8 (8:02 p.m. ET).
