WASHINGTON - Six athletes from the Georgetown University track & field team are in Eugene for the 2015 USA Track & Field (USATF) Outdoor Championships, held at historic Hayward Field on the campus of the University of Oregon. In addition to the six, four former Hoyas will join them in TrackTown, USA for the four-day meet.
All-American Katrina Coogan (Exeter, N.H./Phillips Exeter Academy) will compete in the women's 1,500-meter run. Coogan won the event at the BIG EAST Championships and made the semifinals of the event at the NCAA Championships. She will compete in the second of a three-heat prelim slated for Friday at 8:55 p.m. ET. Lining up beside Coogan in heat two will be familiar faces in former Hoya All-Americans Treniere (Clement) Moser, who now runs for Nike (Nike Oregon Project), and Rachel Schneider, who competes for UnderArmour.
Former Hoya and NCAA Champion Emily Infeld, who now runs professionally for Nike (Bowerman Track Club), is double entered in the women's 5,000- and 10,000-meter runs. She is slated to run in the finals of the 10,000m on Thursday at 10:35 p.m. ET, while the finals of the 5,000m are scheduled for Sunday at 1:20 p.m. ET. Infeld just ran an impressive race two weeks ago at the Portland Track Festival, ousting her previous PR by 20 seconds, running 15:07.19 to win the 5,000m. It was Infeld's first 5K on a track in two years.
The Hoyas total three current student-athletes in the men's 800-meter run in All-Americans Ryan Manahan (Marcellus, N.Y./Marcellus), Joe White (Clifton, N.J./DePaul Catholic) and Billy Ledder (Washington, D.C./Gonzaga). Manahan and White both qualified for the indoor championships while White and Ledder both qualified for the outdoor championships. White won the event at the BIG EAST Outdoor Championships.
