WASHINGTON - Graduate student Mark Dennin (Gilbertsville, Pa./Boyertown) won the BIG EAST Cross Country Athlete of the Week honors for Week 4, as announced today from the league office. The All-American took the individual title at the Paul Short Run on September 28 among 332 runners to lead the then-No. 15 Hoyas to a third-place finish.
This is the second time that Dennin earns the honor as he was named BIG EAST Men's Cross Country Athlete of the Week for the week of September 17, 2009.
The Hoya men are tabbed third in the Mid-Atlantic Region and 20th nationally according to the most recent U.S. Track & Field and Cross Country Coaches Association polls.
Sarah Mary Collins of Providence College, who finished third at the Paul Short Invitational, was also named BIG EAST Cross Country Athlete of the Week.
Georgetown cross country will take this weekend off and continue competition in Louisville, Ky., for the 2012 NCAA Division I Pre-Nationals Invitational, which will be held at the E.P. "Tom" Sawyer State Park on Saturday, October 13 and hosted by the University of Louisville.
