WASHINGTON - Georgetown University track & field All-American Sabrina Southerland (New York, N.Y./Benjamin N. Cardozo) earned weekly BIG EAST Conference honors today, as announced by the league office in New York. The women’s team competed at the Navy Women’s Lid Lifter in Annapolis, Md., last Tuesday.

Southerland picks up the honor after winning a pair of events last Tuesday, taking the top spot in the mile and running the second leg on the championship 4x400-meter relay team. Southerland clocked 4:51.66 to win the mile, the lone competitor to break five minutes, with a time that ranks atop the BIG EAST Conference and third in the country. She was also part of a relay squad that currently leads the conference, clocking 3:52.15, the 16th-best time in the country.

The women’s team will return to competition on January 9, 2016 with the Father Diamond Invitational, hosted by George Mason University in Fairfax, Va.
