Position:
Assistant Coach

James Clark came to the Hilltop in May 2014.

Most recently, Clark worked as a consultant with the ShanXi Dragons of the CBA as well as assisting with the Canadian Men's National Team. He also spent time as an assistant coach and recruiting coordinator at Wagner College.

Clark spent five seasons as an assistant at Drexel University where he helped guide the Dragons to four-consecutive postseason tournament appearances over four seasons, a school record. During his five years at Drexel, the Dragons posted a 97-59 record (.621), highlighted by a 24-9 record in 2008-09, a season that was capped by winning the CAA regular season and the CAA postseason tournament, which resulted in a berth in the NCAA Tournament.

During his tenure at Drexel, Clark coached two players who went on to play professionally including Gabriela Marginean who became the first Dragon to be drafted by the WNBA.

Clark completed his bachelor's degree in general studies at La Salle University in 2004. While pursuing his degree, he coached with the Philadelphia Belles Girls' Basketball Club from 2004-07. The Belles have amassed more than 5,000 victories and over 300 championships in nearly 40 years of local, regional, national and international competition. Since 1978, over 1,500 members of the Belles program have received college scholarships.

While working for the Belles, Clark also served as the head coach of boys basketball at Philadelphia's Springside High School and was a coach for the Mid-Atlantic U-15 Boys Basketball program.

Clark's first foray into coaching was serving as head coach of the women's varsity team at his alma mater, Capuchino High School in San Bruno, Calif. He is also a renowned shooting coach working with NBA and WNBA players. Early in his career, Clark worked with the Orlando Miracle of the WNBA.

The California native played collegiate ball at Santa Rosa Junior College, West Georgia College and Bethany College. Clark also played one year of professional basketball in Australia in 2000 before entering the coaching ranks.
