Mykala Walker was promoted to assistant director of basketball operations in 2016 following a two-year stint as a graduate assistant for the women's basketball program while pursuing her master's degree in sports industry management. She will assist Director of Operations David White with team travel coordination and video.
Walker received her Bachelor of Arts in communications in May 2013 from Wake Forest University where she was a four-year letterwinner on the women's basketball team.
At Wake Forest, Walker was selected to represent women's basketball as a member of the Athletic Director's Council, Student Athletes Advisory Committee and was a charter member of the committee that created the all-sports athletic awards ceremony called the Black and Golden Globe Awards; she even hosted the red carpet show during the inaugural event. Walker also was the anchor a weekly video broadcast entitled Mondays with Coach Pete, which featured a weekly update on highlights from women's basketball and aired on WakeForestSports.com.
While in school, Walker completed several internships in her field. She was a marketing research assistant at PQC, a social media manager for All In PR and a talent manager coordinator in Turner Communications' NBA TV. Walker began her professional career with the Atlanta Hawks as a sales associate in membership and ticket sales for the Hawks before she came to the Hilltop.
The Duluth, Ga., native led her high school basketball program to historic accomplishments including the first appearance ever in the state Class 5A Final Four.
She resides in Washington, D.C.
