Christy Winters Scott begins her first season with the Hoyas in 2004-05. She has a keen knowledge of the Washington, D.C. area, first as a player at the University of Maryland between 1986-1990 and then as an assistant coach at both George Mason University in Fairfax, Virginia and then at the University of Maryland. Winters Scott is a Reston, Virginia native and will focus on Georgetown's post players along with various off court duties. She has spent the last two years doing broadcast work as well as spending time with her two and a half year old son, Jerome, Jr., and her one-year old daughter, Brianna. For the last eight years she has co-produced and co-hosted 'The Roundball Report' on CTV in Prince Georges County, Maryland. Winters Scott spent five seasons at the University of Maryland between 1997-2002 as an assistant coach under former head coach Chris Weller. She was an active local recruiter for the Terps and organized Maryland's scouting program along with specifically tutoring the post players. She was a four-year letterwinner at Maryland as well between 1986 and 1990 and graduated with a degree in speech communication. In 1989, she helped Maryland win its eighth Atlantic Coast Conference championship and reach its third Final Four. As a senior, Winters Scott was a first team All-Atlantic Coast Conference and Kodak All American East Region selection as she led the Terps in scoring with 533 points (17.8 ppg). She is the second all-time leading scorer at Maryland with 1,679 points, fourth in rebounding with 723 and first in career games played with 123. Winters Scott is one of only two players to score more than 700 field goals (703) at Maryland. Winters Scott also ranks in the all-time top 10 at Maryland in games started (fourth with 100), blocked shots (fifth with 91) and field goal percentage (eighth with .537). From 1991 to 1992 Winters Scott played professionally for Pamela Sud in Pistoia, Italy and in 1993 and 1994 she played and coached professionally for City Fribourg in Switzerland. In 1994 she was the league's leading scorer, averaging 37 points and 13 rebounds per game while playing for European Cup semi-finalist City Fribourg. Before returning to her alma mater, Winters Scott spent a total of four seasons in the mid 90's as an assistant coach at George Mason working with post players and handling the recruiting efforts for the Patriots. She and her husband Jerome along with Jerome, Jr. and Brianna Elizabeth reside in Reston, Virginia. College Career |
