WASHINGTON - Georgetown University senior shooting guard Sugar Rodgers (Suffolk, Va./King's Fork) was recognized by the BIG EAST Conference on Monday earning a spot on the conference's weekly honor roll. It is her fifth nod to the honor roll this season.
Rodgers had a huge week for the Hoyas tallying the first triple-double in program history in a win over Providence. She had 33 points, 12 rebounds and 12 assists along with six steals. In the victory over Temple earlier in the week, she led the Hoyas with 21 points and posted 10 rebounds for the double-double. For the week, Rodgers averaged an impressive 27.0 ppg and 11.0 rpg.
This week, Rodgers moved into the top scoring spot in the nation leading the country averaging 26.1 ppg
The Hoyas will be back in action on Wednesday as the squad hosts the No. 1/1 University of Connecticut Huskies. Tipoff is scheduled for 7:30 p.m. at McDonough Arena. The game will be televised live on SNY. Live stats and a webcast will also be available through www.GUHoyas.com.
