WASHINGTON - The Georgetown University women's basketball team (6-8, 0-2 BIG EAST) will travel to Cincinnati, Ohio for the BIG EAST Conference road matchup against the Xavier University Musketeers on Wednesday at 7 p.m. The contest marks GU's first BIG EAST road game of the season.

On Monday, freshman center Natalie Butler (Fairfax Station, Va./Lake Braddock) won the BIG EAST Rookie of the Week award and senior forward Andrea White (Lancaster, Va./Lancaster) was named to the weekly honor roll.

Butler maintained her spot as the league's top rebounder following a pair of double-doubles last week. Against Creighton on Wednesday, Butler scored 24 points and grabbed 13 rebounds before scoring 12 points and corralling 12 boards against Marquette on Saturday. For the week, the freshman averaged 18 points, 12.5 rebounds and 1.5 blocked shots.

For the season, Butler is the top scoring freshman at 15.1 points per game and leads all BIG EAST players with a 12.7 rebounding average. She is sixth in the nation in rebounding average, as well as the top freshman in the country, and ranks eighth overall including first among freshmen in national double-doubles with 10 on the season.

White tallied a double-double of 22 points, 11 rebounds against Marquette on Saturday en route to averaging 17.5 points, 8.5 rebounds for the week. She is currently second on the squad in scoring with 14.6 ppg as well as 8.9 rpg.

They Hoyas aren't strangers to close games with three consecutive trips to overtime as well as the last four contests being decided by two points.

Leading the way for the Hoyas is Butler with 15.1 ppg as well as a BIG EAST-leading 12.7 rpg. White is second with 14.6 ppg and sophomore guard Katie McCormick (Leonardtown, Md./St. Mary's Ryken) rounds out those in double figures with 10.8 ppg.

The team is outrebounding opponents by 8.6 rpg and shooting 41.6 percent on the season from the field.

Led by a game-high 20 points from senior Shatyra Hawkes, the Xavier women's basketball team defeated St. John's 70-65 to snap a four-game losing streak and pick up the program's first BIG EAST Conference win on Sunday afternoon at Cintas Center. With the win the Musketeers improved to 6-8 overall (1-1 BIG EAST) and snapped The Red Storm's three-game winning streak.

The Blue and White, who entered the contest ranked fourth in the conference in three-point field goals per game (6.0), knocked down 10-of-22 shots from behind the arc, highlighted by a trio of trifectas from sophomore Jenna Crittendon.

Georgetown is 0-1 all-time against the Musketeers as well as 0-1 on the road. The lone meeting was a 87-86 loss in Cincinnati on November 25, 1995.
