Petke Named to BIG EAST Weekly Honor Roll

WASHINGTON - Georgetown University women’s basketball senior forward Cynthia Petke (Yaounde, Cameroon/-/Chipola College) was named to the BIG EAST Weekly Honor Roll the league announced on Monday. It is the second career nod to the weekly honor roll for Petke, and she was also the BIG EAST Player of the Week on January 22, 2018.

Petke posted back-to-back double-doubles in a 1-1 weekend for the Hoyas, averaging 14.5 points, 12.5 rebounds and 3.5 steals. The senior’s weekend was highlighted by a 17-point, 14-rebound, four-steal outing in a 71-52 win over Seton Hall on Friday. Petke also had 12 points and 11 rebounds in a 71-63 loss to St. John’s on Sunday.

Petke is third on the squad in scoring with 12.5 ppg and leads the team in rebounds with 9.9 rpg. These numbers rank her 12th and second in the BIG EAST, respectively. She has also tallied 13 double-doubles this season to rank 13th in the nation and second in the league.

This is Georgetown’s sixth weekly award of the season and fifth nod to the honor roll.

The Hoyas will be back in action on Friday as the squad travels to DePaul University next Friday for an 8 p.m. ET matchup with the Blue Demons.
