BERKELEY, Calif. - The Georgetown University women's basketball squad will continue its run in the 2010 NCAA Tournament Monday evening as the fifth-seeded Hoyas take on the fourth-seeded Bears from Baylor University. The Blue & Gray defeated twelfth-seeded Marist College, 62-42, on Saturday evening at Haas Pavilion on the campus of the University of California-Berkeley.

Georgetown put together an all-around performance on Saturday with nine players scoring as well as outrebounding the Red Foxes 49-38. Sophomore Alexa Roche (Bellmore, N.Y./St. Michael's Academy) tallied a career-high 12 rebounds and senior captain Shanice Fuller (Chesapeake, Va./Indian River) notched a career-best 11 assists.

The victory marked the first NCAA Tournament win for the Hoyas since the 1992-93 season when Georgetown advanced to the Sweet 16. GU is now 26-6 on the season.

Baylor comes in with a record of 24-9 after defeating thirteenth-seeded Fresno State in the opening round, 69-55. The Bears are led by freshman center Brittney Griner who is averaging 18.8 ppg and has 185 blocks on the season. The squad was 9-7 in Big 12 play this year and had one common opponent in Jacksonville State. The Bears downed the Gamecocks 104-45 and Georgetown beat JSU 70-39.

This will be the first meeting between the squads.

Tipoff is scheduled for 10:05 p.m. ET at Haas Pavilion in Berkeley, Calif. The game will be televised on ESPNU as well as online at ESPN360.com. Cara Capuano will do the play-by-play and Kayte Christenson is on color commentary. The winner will advance to the Sweet 16 in Memphis, Tenn.
