More than 150 Student-Athletes Earn Degrees in Weekend Graduation Ceremonies

WASHINGTON - More than 150 Georgetown University student-athletes earned degrees over the weekend during graduation ceremonies on the Hilltop, first on Saturday and then a smaller group in a private ceremony on Monday. Five of the student-athletes were from the women's basketball squad.

On Saturday, more than 60 student-athletes earned their degrees from Georgetown College, while others participated in ceremonies from the McDonough School of Business, the School of Nursing & Health Studies and the School of Foreign Service. The men's crew team, which competed over the weekend, took part in a graduation ceremony in Riggs Library on Monday.

The student-athletes who graduated from Georgetown Class of 2014 were part of an impressive group, both on and off the field of competition.

During their four years on campus, the Class of 2014 included student-athletes who were on teams that won six BIG EAST Regular Season titles (men's basketball, 2013, men's soccer, 2013, men's soccer, 2012; men's soccer, 2010; women's soccer, 2012; and women's lacrosse, 2011, participated in a national Final Four (2012 men's soccer) and won a national championship (2011 women's cross country).

The class also included 14 student-athletes who earned national academic honors or Academic All-American recognition.
