Washington, D.C. - The Georgetown University women's basketball team released its 2008-09 schedule Monday afternoon. The Hoyas, under fifth-year head coach Terri Williams-Flournoy, will play 14 home games including eight against BIG EAST opponents.

Georgetown opens the season with a two-game road trip beginning on Sunday, November 16 at Jacksonville State in Jacksonville, Ala., then continuing on to Brown on Wednesday. The team will host its first home game at McDonough Arena on Saturday, November 22 against Central Michigan.

GU will travel to Los Angeles, Calif., in late November to play at the Loyola Marymount Tournament. The Hoyas will face North Dakota State on Friday, November 28 and Idaho State the following day. They will follow that with a pair of home games against Fordham (12/3) and James Madison (12/5).

The Hoyas tip-off BIG EAST play on Saturday, January 3 against Syracuse at McDonough Arena. On Saturday, January 31, Georgetown will welcome Connecticut, which advanced to the Final Four last season, followed by trips to DePaul (2/4) and Rutgers (2/7) marking one of the toughest stretches of the season.

The BIG EAST Tournament begins Friday, March 6 with a new format for the 2008-09 season. This year, all 16 teams will be invited with seeds five though eight receiving byes into the second round and seeds one through four not playing until the third round of competition. The event will be held at the XL Center in Hartford, Conn.
