WASHINGTON - The Georgetown University women's basketball team and the BIG EAST Conference released the 2017-18 league schedule on Thursday afternoon. The Hoyas will have two games on national television being broadcast on CBS Sports Net (CBSsn) and FS2 with the remaining conference games available on the BIG EAST Digital Network (BEDN).
Georgetown had previously released the nonconference schedule featuring three home games and seven road contests including three games at the Challenge in Music City in Nashville, Tenn.
The schedule format will remain the same as last year as most conference games will be played on Fridays and Sundays with each institution having a travel partner.
The conference schedule tips off on the road as the Hoyas travel to Providence on Dec. 28 for a 7 p.m. matchup. On Dec. 30, Georgetown will play at Creighton with a 2 p.m. tip.
Following the trip, GU begins a three-game homestand as Georgetown faces Xavier Jan. 2 and Butler on Jan. 5. The contest against the Musketeers will tip at 2 p.m. ET, and the game against the Bulldgos is scheduled for 7 p.m. The final home game will be versus Villanova on Jan. 10 at 7 p.m. The Wildcats are Georgetown’s travel partner and will see the Hoyas in Jake Nevin Fieldhouse on Feb. 3 at 1 p.m.
Georgetown will head back out on the road for weekend games against St. John’s on Jan. 12 at 7 p.m. and Seton Hall on Jan. 14 at 1 p.m.
Marquette and DePaul will come to McDonough Arena on Jan. 19 and 21. The game against the Golden Eagles, last year’s conference champions is scheduled to tip at 7 p.m. GU will face the Blue Demons at 2 p.m. in a game that will be broadcast live on CBSsn.
A trip to Butler is scheduled for Jan. 26 at 7 p.m. to begin the second half of league play. This will be followed by a game at Xavier on Jan. 28 at 2 p.m. that will be televised live on FS2.
Games against Seton Hall and St. John’s highlight the next weekend as GU faces the Pirates on Feb. 9 at 7 p.m. and the Red Storm on Feb. 11 at 2 p.m. The Seton Hall game is scheduled to be Georgetown’s annual Play4Kay event.
GU’s final road trip of the season will be at DePaul on Feb 16 at 8 p.m. ET before closing out road play Marquette on Feb. 18 at 4 p.m. ET.
The last homestand of the season will feature Creighton on Feb. 23 at 11 a.m. in a school day game, and Providence for Senior Day on Feb. 25 at 2 p.m.
For the fifth-consecutive year, FS1 and FS2 will provide coverage of the BIG EAST Women’s Basketball Tournament, with this season’s event location scheduled to be announced in the coming weeks. FS2 will air the quarterfinal round on March 4, with games set for 1, 3:30, 7 and 9:30 p.m. (ET). FS1 picks up the remainder of the tournament, with the semifinals on March 5 slated for 4 and 6:30 p.m., and the championship game set to tip off at 7 p.m. on March 6. BEDN will live stream both first round games on March 3, with tip times not yet determined.
All 10 BIG EAST teams will appear on nationally televised games during regular-season play across the FOX Sports family of networks, while an additional two games will be featured on CBS Sports Network (CBSSN). For the third straight year, the BIG EAST Digital Network (BEDN) will air all women’s basketball games during conference play that are not scheduled for a television broadcast, for a total of 74 tilts.
