Women’s Basketball Player Rebekkah Brunson Named as 2003-04 Naismith Award Candidate
WASHINGTON, D.C. --- Senior women’s basketball player Rebekkah Brunson (Oxon Hill, Md./Oxon Hill) was named as a 2003-04 Naismith College Basketball Player of the Year candidate by Jackie Bradford, president of the Atlanta Tipoff Club.
Brunson, a forward, led Georgetown in scoring and rebounding last season, averaging 16.6 points and 10.7 boards per game. She played in all 29 games for Georgetown, starting in 28 of them, and led the Hoyas in point production during 18 of those contests. Brunson was selected to the 2002-03 All-BIG EAST First Team as a junior and to the 2001-02 BIG EAST Honorable Mention team as a sophomore and was the 2000-01 BIG EAST Rookie of the Year as a freshman.
Brunson has received numerous 2003-04 preseason awards, including a nomination for the State Farm Wade Trophy and NCAA Division I Women’s Basketball Player of the Year, a Wooden Women’s Basketball Award Preseason All-American, a Women’s Basketball Preseason First Team selection and a Preseason All-BIG EAST choice.
