Georgetown women win at George Mason, 82-59
Hoyas win third-straight game
Fairfax, Va. (Dec. 1, 1999) -- Junior Katie Smrcka-Duffy (Sterling, Va./James Madison) scored 25 points as the Hoyas defeated George Mason on the road, 82-59. It was the Hoyas third-straight win and improved their record to 3-2. All five starters scored at least 10 points as Georgetown shot a season-high 58 percent from the field.
Smrcka Duffy was 8-for-13 from the floor, grabbed a team-high six rebounds and handed out four assists. She was 4-for-5 from 3-point territory. It was her third-consecutive game with at least 20 points. Junior Nathalie Bourdereau (River Ridge, La./Ridgewood Prep) scored 13 points and was 6-for-8 from the field. Dani Ilic (Boehblingen, Germany/Otto-Hahn Gymnasium), Lesley Walker (Silver Spring, Md./Wheaton) and Danielle Hurley (Commack, N.Y./Commack) each had 11 points.
The Hoyas opened the game with a 16-2 run and led by as many as 26 in the first half. Georgetown held the Pirates (2-3) to just 28 percent shooting in the first half and the Hoyas led at the break, 41-20.
Georgetown will travel to New Orleans to face Tulane on Saturday afternoon.
