Brunson Named BIG EAST Women’s Basketball Player of the Week
WASHINGTON, D.C. – Georgetown women’s basketball All-America candidate Rebekkah Brunson (Oxon Hill, Md./Oxon Hill) earned BIG EAST Player of the Week honors for her career efforts this past Saturday against Loyola. It marks the third time this season that Brunson has won the award.
Brunson set new career highs with 31 points and 21 rebounds in GU’s 70-53 win over Loyola. Brunson has 36 career double-doubles, including four this season. Brunson hit on 12-of-23 shots in the contest and sank 7-of-10 from the charity stripe. She added two blocks to go with 11 offensive and 10 defensive rebounds. Brunson had 15 points and nine rebounds in the first 20 minutes and then exploded for 14 straight points in a seven-minute span in the second stanza.
