After graduating in May 2006, Lauren Smeeding returned to Georgetown in the fall as an assistant coach. This is her third year assisting with the lightweight novice squad.
While at Georgetown, Smeeding was a four-year member of the Georgetown University Women's Lightweight Rowing team. Smeeding captained the team her senior year from 2005-2006. She was named a Greg Carroll Spirit Award Winner in 2006.
Prior to Georgetown, Smeeding rowed for Nardin Academy and West Side Rowing Club, in Buffalo, N.Y. During her Georgetown career, Smeeding returned to Buffalo and coached the learn-to-row program at West Side in the summers of 2003 and 2005.
Smeeding is a USRowing Level II Certified Coach and currently works for a non-profit health care research firm in Washington D.C.
