Georgetown Field Hockey Falls to Villanova, 6-0

WASHINGTON - The Georgetown University field hockey team (6-11, 1-4 BIG EAST) was defeated by the BIG EAST Conference rival Villanova Wildcats (6-9, 2-3 BIG EAST), 6-0, on Friday evening at Villanova Stadium in Villanova, Pa.
Georgetown managed four shots on goal by Claire Mittermiller (La Jolla, Calif./La Jolla), Laura Thistle (Glenside, Pa./Mount Saint Joseph Academy), Charlotte Tierney (Rye, N.Y./Holy Child) and Annie Wilson (Darien, Conn./Darien).
Ai Nishino (Rye, N.Y./Rye) had one defensive save for the Hoyas in the loss.
The Hoyas and Wildcats played scoreless field hockey for the first 16 minutes of the game, until Lauren Wuzzardo put Villanova in front, 1-0. The score would remain the same until Dana Ramsden scored the Wildcats second goal just 16 seconds before the half, taking a 2-0 lead into the second half. The second half was all Wildcats, as they scored four second half goals, including Wuzzardo's second of the game, to defeat the Hoyas 6-0.
Georgetown will conclude the weekend's action on Sunday Oct. 24 when the team plays Lafayette at 1 p.m. at Metzgar Field in Easton, Pa. The Hoyas return to Washington D.C. to play the season-finale against Providence College at the William I. Jacobs Recreational Complex on Saturday, October 30 at 1:30 p.m. The game will also be Senior Day, as the Hoyas will honor senior captain Annika Bannon (Hopkinton, Mass./Notre Dame Academy).
