WASHINGTON - The Georgetown University field hockey team (2-16, 0-6) fell behind by three goals early at Villanova (7-12, 2-4) but climbed back to within one goal twice in the second half before eventually falling 5-3. Georgetown was undone by Villanova's Leah High who netted four goals in the contest.

The Hoyas found themselves down three goals less than 10 minutes into the game. The beginning of GU's first comeback started with Caitlin Hickey (Milton, Mass./Milton Academy) scoring her second goal of the year off an assist from Emily Weinberg (Shaker Heights, Ohio/Hathaway Brown), cutting the margin to 3-1. Hickey's score came off a corner set piece, one of three corners GU had in the half.

In the second half the Hoyas jumped on the Wildcats early as GU's leading scorer Annie Wilson (Darien, Conn./Darien) received a pass from Katie Dempsey (Bryn Mawr, Pa./Merion Mercy Academy) in the middle of the circle and scored her team leading seventh of the season. With Villanova maintaining a one goal margin VU's High gave the Cats a 4-2 lead with 31 minutes to play.

Georgetown's comeback bid continued though as freshman Sarah Butterfield (Bridgewater, N.J./Oak Knoll) dribbled her way into the circle and ripped a shot past the Nova goalie to cut the lead back down to one. Georgetown continued to press offensively, looking for the tying score, but a fast break by Villanova closed the deal with seven minutes to play as VU's High scored her fourth of the night.

Georgetown closes its 2012 season on Sunday, October 28, at No. 11 Lafayette with a 12 noon contest. Game time was originally set for 2 p.m. but has been moved forward to 12 noon.
