WASHINGTON - Georgetown University's women's field hockey team (2-6, 0-1) takes to the road this weekend with games at Louisville and at Miami (Ohio). The Hoyas play their second BIG EAST game on Friday, September 21, at 6 p.m. against Louisville then play at Miami (Ohio) on Sunday, September 23, at 11 a.m. It will be the third weekend road trip of the season for Georgetown after hosting two games this past weekend against Providence and Lehigh.

The Hoyas have been led offensively by seniors Annie Wilson (Darien, Conn./Darien), Catherine Shugrue (Devon, Pa./Episcopal Academy) and Kimberly Keating (Bryn Mawr, Pa./Merion Mercy Academy). Wilson leads the team in points with seven, and is tops in assists with five. She ranks fourth in the BIG EAST for assists per game, averaging 0.62 per contest. Shugrue and Keating are the Hoyas leading goal scorers with three apiece. Defensively senior goalkeeper Briana Pereira (Medford, N.J./Shawnee) has recorded 43 saves and ranks third in the BIG EAST for saves per game with 5.38.

This past weekend Georgetown hosted its first home games of the year. GU fell to BIG EAST foe Providence, 5-2, and lost 3-2 to Lehigh. The Hoya scoring was spread out as seniors Claire Mittermiller (La Jolla, Calif./La Jolla) and Katy Wingo (Great Falls, Va./Langley) netted scores against PC and senior Charlotte Tierney (Rye, N.Y./Holy Child) and junior Katie Dempsey (Bryn Mawr, Pa./Country Day School of the Sacred Heart) tallied scores versus Lehigh. Over the course of the 2012 season nine different Hoyas have recorded goals.

Last season Georgetown and Louisville met in mid-September with the Hoyas falling 5-0. It was the BIG EAST opener for both teams. The Cardinals have won all six previous meetings. Georgetown's trip to Oxford, Ohio will be their second ever visit to Miami. The last time GU played in Oxford was in 1994. The overall series between the Hoyas and Red Hawks is tied 1-1.

Louisville owns a 5-3 overall record this season and its game with Georgetown will be its BIG EAST opener. All three of the Cardinal losses have been by one goal, with two coming in overtime. The Cardinals lost in their last outing, falling 2-1 in extra time at #20 Michigan State.

Miami (Ohio) has lost its last two outings, losing at William and Mary and at Virginia. The Red Hawks own victories against Longwood and Ohio State along with six losses in 2012. Miami hosts Central Michigan on Friday, September 21, before facing Georgetown.
