Field Hockey at Home Against No. 2 UCONN, Liberty

The Hoyas are 2-4 in their last six games, dropping their last two BIG EAST games on the road against Old Dominion and Rutgers.
This season Georgetown has had seven different players score goals and eleven total women with points on the season. Sophomore forward Sarah Butterfield (Bridgewater, N.J./Oak Knoll) leads the team with six goals and also has one assist on the season for 13 points. Sophomore midfielder Emily Weinberg (Shaker Heights, Ohio/Hathaway Brown) follows up Butterfield with five points on two goals and one assist. Freshman forward Aliyah Graves (Harrisburg, Pa./Harrisburg Academy) boasts a team-leading three assists. Eight different Hoyas have tallied an assist on the season.
Freshman goalie Rosalie Nolen (West Chester, Pa./Reed Henderson) has started every game in net this season for Georgetown. Freshman Rachel Skonecki (Mechanicsburg, Pa./Red Land) has seen action in three games, totaling 37:32 minutes of play in goal.
Butterfield, Weinberg, Nolen, freshman back Hailey Vann (Yorktown, Va./Tabb), junior back Elizabeth Mueller (St. Louis, Mo./MICDS), freshman midfielder Maria McDonald (Center Valley, Pa./Southern Lehigh) and sophomore midfielder Louise Chakejian (Chester Springs, Pa./The Episcopal Academy) have started all 13 games for Georgetown this season. All position-players have seen action in at least two games.
Connecticut junior forward Chloe Hunnable leads the Huskies with 32 points on 14 goals and four assists. The Huskies have four women with over 20 points on the season. Senior forward Anna Jeute leads the team in assists with nine.
UCONN has won their last two matchups coming into the game against Georgetown. Its first loss on the season came at home against Boston College when the Eagles defeated the Huskies 4-3 in overtime on Oct. 6. The loss marked Connecticut’s first defeat since Nov. 11, 2012 against Maryland in the NCAA Tournament Quarterfinals, 2-1. Their last regular season loss came to Syracuse in New York on Oct. 27, 2012, a 3-2 loss.
Connecticut’s Marie Elena Bolles, a senior forward, was recently named the BIG EAST Offensive Player of the Week. Bolles scored three goals and added two assists in a 2-0 week for the Huskies which included a 6-0 victory over then-ranked No. 14 Louisville.
UCONN leads the conference in scoring margin. The Huskies average 3.57 goals per game while only allowing 1.12 goals per game on defense for a 2.45 average margin of victory. Their 3.57 and 1.12 marks both lead the BIG EAST as well.
Liberty Lady Flames
The Liberty Lady Flames host Longwood on Thurs. Oct. 17 before traveling to College Park to play Georgetown on Sunday at 4 p.m. Sophomore forward Natalie Barr leads the squad with 11 goals; sophomore forward Ashlee Krulock has 10. Barr’s eight assists also lead the team, which gives her a total of 30 points on the season. Her 62 shots are three times as many as any other Lady Flame.
Liberty remains unbeaten in their last four games, outscoring their opponents 21-6 in the span. Their most recent loss came at home on Sept. 29 to then-ranked No. 4 Virginia, 2-0. The Lady Flames are averaging 3.54 goals per game and 16.7 shots. Senior goalie Ann Jefferis has started 12 of the team’s 13 games in net with a 1.31 goals against average.
