WASHINGTON - Georgetown field hockey freshman Anna Farley (Bel Air, Md./Bel Air) was named to the ALL-BIG EAST Second Team on Thursday morning. Farley is the first freshman in program history to earn All-BIG EAST honors and the fifth student-athlete to receive Second Team honors.
The Hoyas finished the season last weekend with an overall record of 9-10, the most wins that the program has achieved under Head Coach Shannon Soares, who just finished her fourth season with the Hoyas. Georgetown has not won that many games in a season since 2002.
Farley contributed six goals and six assists to the Blue & Gray during her first season, tallying 18 points, good for the second most on the team. She was also the only freshman to start all 19 games this season for the Blue & Gray.
On September 11, Farley earned BIG EAST Rookie of the Week after contributing two goals and two assists against University of Massachusetts Lowell and Holy Cross. She scored her first goal this season against UMass Lowell in a triple-overtime loss and recorded another goal plus two assists in a victory over Holy Cross.
This is Georgetown's ninth BIG EAST honor in the 2017 campaign and the fourth season in a row that a player earned postseason All-BIG EAST honors. Three of those four consecutive postseason honors were under Soares.
