Katie Brophy came to the Hilltop in the summer of 2011 after serving as an assistant coach at Indiana University for five years. Brophy earned her bachelor's degree from Notre Dame in 2006, was a three-time All-BIG EAST selection and a four-time National Golf Coaches Association (NGCA) Scholar-Athlete.

While at Indiana, Brophy's duties included on-course coaching, recruiting and oversight of the budget, in addition to running the team's home tournament and various alumni events. She helped lead the Hoosiers to three top-five finishes at the Big Ten Championships over the last five years and to three postseason appearances, including playing host to the 2010 NCAA Central Regional. Five golfers earned all-league honors during that span.

Brophy helped take Indiana to a fifth-place finish at the 2010 Big Ten Championships, with the team posting the second-lowest four-round score at a Big Ten championship in school history. In 2008, she helped lead the team to a fourth place finish at the league championship. The team also made its second-straight NCAA postseason appearance with a trip to the NCAA East Regional.

In her first season with the Hoosiers, Brophy helped oversee the continued transformation of the women's golf program, culminating in IU's first NCAA Championship appearance since 1998. With her guidance, the freshman trio of Kellye Belcher, Laura Nochta and Anita Gahir finished the season as the No. 1-rated freshman class in the country, according to Golfstat's Freshman Class Impact Rating.

A native of Spokane, Wash., Brophy graduated from Notre Dame in 2006, earning a degree in sociology while enjoying an outstanding playing career. A two-time captain, she recorded a school-record three tournament victories during her playing career, earning medalist honors at the 2005 Jeannine McHaney Invitational/Central Regional Preview, the 2003 BIG EAST Championship and the 2002 Peggy Kirk Bell Invitational.

She boasted a 77.46 per round scoring average in 131 career rounds during her four-year career, the second-best per-round average in school history. Brophy also earned a spot on the All-BIG EAST team in 2003, 2004 and 2006, and was the team MVP in 2003 and 2005.

Brophy also shined in the classroom while a student-athlete at Notre Dame. She was a four-time member of the NGCA All-Scholar team, a two-time Dean's List member at Notre Dame and was honored as a BIG EAST Academic All-Star.

Brophy also has exceptional international and amateur experience. In 2003, she traveled to Ireland and Scotland to compete in the St. Rule Trophy at The Old Course at St. Andrews where she placed in the top-10. During the summer of 2005, Brophy was one of 10 collegiate golfers selected to compete in the NCAA All-Star Golf Tour in Asia. The squad spent one week in South Korea, two weeks in Japan and then the final week was spent in Hong Kong and China. She also competed at the 103rd U.S. Women's Amateur Championship in the summer of 2003 and advanced to the second round of match play at the 104th U.S. Women's Amateur Championship in 2004.

In June 2007, she graduated from the NCAA Women Coaches Academy where she and 25 other coaches from around the country spent a week at NCAA headquarters in Indianapolis. In May 2010, she attended the NCAA Women Coaches Academy Dimension 2 which was held in Boston.

Brophy successfully completed the LPGA Level I Teaching Program Series in Daytona Beach, Fla. in November 2010. She is an active member of the Ladies Professional Golf Association. In addition, Brophy earned her master's degree in athletic administration/sport management from Indiana in 2009. In December 2010, Brophy finished the coursework for her Ph.D., in human performance with an emphasis in sport management and a minor in telecommunications.
