ORANGE PARK, Fla. – The Georgetown women’s golf team shot a 31-over par 319 on the final day of play at the JMU Eagle Landing Invitational. The three-day, 54-hole tournament, hosted by James Madison University, was played at Eagle Landing Golf Club (Par 72 – 6,208 yards) in Orange Park, Fla.
Sophomore Mackenzie Boydston (Keller, Texas/Nolan Catholic) shot a five-over par 77 on Sunday to lead the Hoyas and tie for 44th overall for the tournament at 17-over par 233. Freshman Jenny Xiao (Foshan, China/Foshan No. 2 Middle School) finished 61st overall after shooting an 81 on Sunday to put her at 21-over par 237 for the weekend. Sophomore Liz DiVincentis (Durham, Conn/Coginchaug Regional) placed 79th place at 29-over par 245 after shooting an 83 on Sunday.
Elon won the team event, jumping from third to first on Sunday after shooting an 11-over par 299 on Sunday. The Phoenix leapt over both Georgia State and Delaware, which finished second and third, respectively. Tiffany Chan of Daytona State College was the individual winner, finishing as the only player in the tournament to finish under par. She shot a one-under par 215 over the three-day tournament, including back-to-back rounds of 71 on Saturday and Sunday.
Georgetown will take next weekend off before hosting the Hoya Invitational on Monday, March 31 and Tuesday, April 1. Play will be held at Four Streams Golf Club in Beallsville, Md.
