BEALLSVILLE, Md. -
The Georgetown University women's golf team shot a 28-over par 316 in the final round and finished in eighth place among 16 teams after the final round of play in the Ninth Annual Hoya Invitational, hosted by the Hoyas at The Members Club at Four Streams.
The Hoyas finished with a 36-hole score of 76-over par 652 to finish in eighth place.
Penn fired a 10-over par 298 in the final round and topped the 16-team field, posting a 31-over par 607, four strokes ahead of second place Michigan (35-over par 611). Yale finished in third place (44-over par 620), St. John's was fourth (48-over par 624) and Nova Southeastern place fifth (51-over par 627).
Penn's Amanda Chin took medalist honors, topping the field of 86 golfers with a 36-hole score of 1-over par 145. Chin fired a 1-under par 71 in Tuesday's final round.
The teams were scheduled to play 36 holes on Monday, but played only 18 after a late-winter storm hit the metropolitan area of the Nation's Capital on Sunday. Despite warmer temperatures greeting the 86 collegiate golfers on Monday morning, strong winds gusting up to 35 miles per hour and tough playing conditions made for a challenging and limited day. The conditions on Tuesday were the best of the two-day event with temperatures in the 60s and low wind leading to a better day for play.
Sophomore Patricia Lee (Lone Tree, Colo./Highlands Ranch) was Georgetown's top finisher, tying for 24th place at 16-over par 160.
Sophomore Mackenzie Boydston (Keller, Texas/Nolan Catholic) posted the Hoyas best round of the day, carding a 5-over par 77 and finishing in a tie for 36th place at 19-over par 163.
Freshman Jenny Xiao (Foshan, China/Foshan No. 2 Middle School) shot a 6-over par 78 on Tuesday and tied for 41st place at 20-over par 144.
Sophomore Liz DiVincentis (Durham, Conn./Coginchaug Regional) tied for 45th place at 21-over par 165 and senior Alice Choi (Whitestone, N.Y./Bayside) finished in a tie for 58th place at 28-over par 172.
The Hoyas are back in action again this weekend, competing in the Liz Murphey Collegiate Classic, hosted by the University of Georgia in Athens, Ga.
