The Georgetown University women's golf team struggled in the final round with a 20-over par 308 and finished in sixth place among nine teams at the William & Mary Invitational, held in Williamsburg, Va.
The tournament was won by Morehead State, who shot a 29-over par 881 and finished 17 strokes ahead of second place Elon (46-over par 898). William & Mary finished in third place (51-over par 903), with Richmond fourth (55-over par 907) and Radford fifth (60-over par 912).
The Hoyas, who fired a 14-over par 298 in the second round on Monday - the best single round at Georgetown in seven years, finished in sixth place 63-over par 915.
Sophomore Mackenzie Boydston (Keller, Texas/Nolan Catholic) was the top finisher for Georgetown, shooting a final round 4-over par 75 and finishing in a tie for 13th place at 12-over par 225.
Sophomore Liz DiVincentis (Durham, Conn./Coginchaug Regional) carded a 4-over par 75 in the final round and finished in 18th place at 18-over par 231.
Freshman Jenny Xiao (Foshan, China/Foshan No. 3 Middle School), who fired a team-best 1-over par 72 in the second round, tied for 19th place at 19-over par 232.
Senior Alice Choi (Whitestone, N.Y./Bayside) tied for 22nd place at 20-over par 233, shooting an 11-over par 82 in the final round, and sophomore Patricia Lee (Lone Tree, Colo./Highlands Ranch) tied for 24th place at 22-over par 235, including a 6-over par 78 in the third round.
Freshman Kelly Hwang (Moorestown, N.J./IMG Academy), competing as an individual, finished in 41st place at 41-over par 254.
Georgetown is back in action on Friday, Sept. 27, competing in the Nittany Lion Invitational in State College, Pa.
